Knowle Park Primary had a very tired, rotten old timber play area which was unsafe and not fit for purpose, offering very limited play value. We were asked to attend site to conjure some amazing designs that could transform the space into a play area the school could be proud of.
We were provided some ideas the school had been given by other suppliers but didn’t fit their brief. Rhino Play took all the site measurements, met the school team and discussed at length, the safety, brief and budget constraints and went away to create a bespoke play area that could be loved for years to come.
The new design completely re-imagined the space. The old space was segregated areas of individual bark pits, with basic, but oversized play equipment that only offered limited play value. Rhino came up with a merged giant bark pit with linked play equipment offering a play space with social interaction, play and challenge the whole school could enjoy and experience. Using a combination of an adventure climber pole unit, trim trail and treated sleepers, the new area made the best of the space available. The concept also included bark top up to improve the safety of the area and offer compliancy to the BSEN standards.
The equipment we installed was the Devon Climber, wobble steps, twister net, rolling log and split traverse wall. The photographs show the playgrade playground equipment installed into a new area of playgrade bark, held within a playgrade treated sleeper pit.
The school loved the design, installation and could not wait for the children to return after the summer holidays to their new amazing play area!
