We have also identified several potential grant opportunities, which could benefit schools, parishes and local authorities as well as housing developers and hotels and leisure parks.
Once you’ve identified potential grant opportunities from the list below, carefully review the application requirements and deadlines on each website. Every grant may have specific criteria, so tailor your application to match the organisation’s objectives.
ASDA Foundation – Independent charity set up to empower local communities and to improve community spaces. Grants of between £5,000 and £10,000 are available.
Aviva Community Fund – lends a helping hand to local communities, offering financial support for inspirational causes. Aimed at community groups and non-profit organisations. Grants awarded are around £25,000.
Big Lottery Awards For All – for schools, town/parish councils, health bodies and non-profit groups. Grants of up to £10,000 are available (£5,000 in Wales).
BBC Children In Need – providing grants to projects that aim to support disadvantaged children. Non-profit groups and registered charities can apply. Small grants (up to £10,000) and main grants (over £10,000) are available.
Biffaward – offers grants to projects that benefit communities living near landfill sites. The grant aims to elevate community spaces, cultural facilities and recreational places. Must be no more than 10 miles away from a Biffa Site. There are several sites in the South West, visit their website for more information. Up to £50,000 available.
Coastal Communities Fund – this grant is available for private businesses, social enterprises, new start-ups and community projects that are based in UK coastal areas, to encourage their economic development.
Community Foundation – grants targeted at projects that are making a positive difference to local communities. For community groups and voluntary organisations.
Fields In Trust (FIT) – aimed at protecting green spaces whilst also improving parks, playgrounds, bike trails and woodlands. Any open spaces that are protected by Fields In Trust can apply.
Foyle Foundation – funds UK charities whose core work is promoting arts and learning. This foundation prioritises grant applications for those with special educational needs and learning difficulties. Registered UK charities are eligible to apply.
FundEd – Rhino Play has partnered with FundEd, the go-to experts in school fundraising. This organisation will support schools as they search and apply for suitable play equipment grants.
Learning Through Landscapes – work to transform school and nursery grounds into an inspiring space for children to learn and play.
Tesco Bags Of Help – Tesco’s proceeds from selling 5p carrier bags are going towards paying for thousands of projects that are improving green spaces across the country. Voluntary or community organisations, schools, health bodies, town councils and social housing providers can apply. Up to
£4,000 available.
Veolia Environmental Trust – offers funding to community projects, which includes restoring green spaces and creating new play areas. Funding is available for projects within proximity to a site owned by Veolia Trust. There is a site in Yarlington, Somerset.
WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental) – offers tax credits to help benefit the lives of those living near landfill sites. Community groups, heritage groups and conservation groups can apply. Up to £100,000 available.
