Artificial Grass Trim Trail – Lochinver House School – October 2025

After completing a larger surfacing, gazebo and traverse wall project earlier in the year, the team at Lochinver House School approached us to help come up with a low-level trim trail which could be installed into the existing artificial grass pitch. Rhino Play attended site to measure up and discuss the safety and conformity regulations based on installing new equipment in already established artificial grass.

We came up with a design that could suit users from 5 years plus and offer challenge and variety in the trail equipment whilst fitting to a strict budget. During the October half term, we installed 6 individual trail items to create a wonderful trail which could give the children access to play all year round.

Trail Playground Equipment:

The Trapeze Swing introduces an upper body strength element, whilst the Clatter Bridge adds an exciting sensory dimension with its distinctive movement and sound when traversed. These thoughtfully selected additions enhance the overall play value significantly.

Existing Safety Surfacing:

As the artificial grass was already in place, we could only offer trail items with a fall height under 0.6m as the existing grass did not have shockpad already installed. The surface was carefully cut open for the foundations of the trim trail pieces to be installed, then expertly re-seamed and repairs to hide any excavation works.

The trail was then independently inspected, allowing the school to open the trail for the return of the children after the half term break. The photographs show the beautiful and exciting trail installation ready for use by the children.
