Calcot Infant School had an unused area of grass next to an old cycle parking area, the school were relocating the EYFS provision and wanted to make the space into an inviting play area suitable for the children and offering a ‘wow’ factor for prospective newcomers. The brief was to include climbing explorations, sand play, sensory play and a mini shelter. Rhino Play put together a concept that include all these elements, but also offered some mini freestanding trail equipment that could compliment the climbing unit and make the most of the space available.
The new design re-imagined the space with a castle play unit centre piece, a safari cabin play hut, mud kitchens, mini trail and a giant sleeper sandpit, using playgrade smooth and treated sleepers. The equipment in the scheme offers a chance for the children to be socially interactive, engaged, challenged and could help develop their physical strength and balancing skills.
The equipment we installed was the Rydon Keep, Mini Movers, Safari Cabin, a giant version of the Tots Sandpit and mud kitchens. The photographs show the playgrade playground equipment installed into a grass area including grass matting safety surfacing.
Calcot Infants school loved the concept and the installation, when completed met the brief and offered the ‘wow’ factor the school were looking for.
