Bonded Rubber Mulch – Fringford, Oxfordshire – July 2026

Fringford Parish Council contacted Rhino Play after an inspection report highlighted compliance and safety issues with their existing safety surface.

The Challenge at Fringford

  • Existing grass safety mats had sunk beneath the soil
  • No grass growing due to the tree canopies overhead
  • An undulating floor posing trip hazards, with concrete foundations exposed in places

The brief was to use a recycled surface with low maintenance and free-draining properties.

Why Bonded Rubber Mulch Was the Right Fit

Bonded Rubber Mulch, laid over the existing grass mats with some stone sub-base to reduce the severe slopes, was the best product to meet the brief.

  • Fully conforms to standards for fall heights and safety areas
  • Low maintenance, so the parish council doesn’t need to manage grass growth under tree cover again
  • Free-draining, keeping the area usable whatever the weather
  • A green finish that suits the rural setting without detracting from the beauty of the area

The Results

The installation team completed the job efficiently and professionally during the summer heatwave. The council were exceedingly happy with the installation, the team and all involved with the project, and the play area was back open within a week, giving children an all-weather area to play on.
