Littleham Primary, Exmouth, Devon – Recycled non rotting climbing equipment – May 2024

Littleham Primary in Exmouth have gone along with a much more environmental & financial friendly approach to designing their new area, they have taken the option to replace all of their rotten old timber equipment with our recycled plastic playground & trim trail equipment. The school didn’t want to have to start replacing parts or whole items after 10 years or so & be spending ongoing & increasing funds on this. Their decision was to replace using our brown recycled plastics that will never rot, are salt water resistant, produce 55% less carbon emissions than Redwood timber & can be fully recycled again at the end of it’s very long service life.

We designed a linked climbing & trim trail style system within an area adjacent to the playground so that it’s accessible all year & extends their playground space.
The equipment is designed for both KS1 & 2 & is used at breaktimes whilst under supervision. The design offers ‘non prescriptive’ play for all primary ages & allows for physical play as well as creative play, traversing, climbing, upper body, core & complete co-ordination activities.
