Castle Keep in Barnett Wood Infants – Ashstead Surrey December 2025

Barnett Wood Infants had an old, rotten and unsafe play boat that had seen better days. The school wanted a bespoke unit that could fit the footprint of the old unit and offer a new, exciting play space with seating, role play, creativity and physical play.

A New Castle Design

The new castle design incorporates a raised octagonal castle deck with internal seating, a linking Burma bridge and balance beams, and traverse grips for perimeter physical play, along with the required surfacing repairs. The equipment installed was the Castle Keep, Burma Bridge and Balance Beams.

  • Created a climbing, traversing, role play space with varied play experiences.
  • Promotes physical development, social interaction, challenge, a diverse play experience and balance and co-ordination.

The Outcome

The equipment offers a chance for the children to be socially interactive, engaged and challenged, and helps develop their physical strength and balancing skills. The school loved the concept and the difference the equipment offered compared to the old play boat, and it suited their budget, creating a new “go to” play space and transforming an old, tired area.
