During the summer holidays of 2025, Rhino Play completed a specialised playground equipment installation at Mill Ford School in Plymouth. This SEN school required a sensory play solution specifically designed to meet the needs of one of their pupils.
The Birds Nest Swing was selected to help regulate the pupil by providing essential sensory stimulation through movement, swinging action, and both auditory and visual feedback. This type of specialised SEN playground equipment offers therapeutic benefits for children with sensory processing requirements.
Our installation team carefully positioned the swing to maximise the natural ground contours of the site. This strategic placement also incorporated existing site features that created natural barriers, preventing other children from inadvertently walking or running into the swing’s path during use.
We fitted galvanised steel feet to all posts, effectively eliminating the risk of ground rot and damage from grounds maintenance equipment. The installation included 24m² of Rubber Grass Mats safety surfacing to ensure compliance with playground safety standards whilst providing appropriate fall protection.
When our team conducted a follow-up visit in September, we were delighted to learn that the pupil was thoroughly enjoying the Birds Nest Swing and experiencing significant benefits from this sensory play provision. This successful installation demonstrates our commitment to creating inclusive playground solutions that support the specific needs of children in special educational settings.
