Test Your Balance With Wooden Trim Trails For Schools

September 22, 2021 Trim Trails

Wooden trim trails are a fantastic way to get children involved in individual and team play during P.E lessons and break times, as well as improving their mental well-being by enjoying the outdoors and their physical progression by testing their hand-eye coordination and strength.

Read on to find out more about our fantastic trim trail products for schools and how we can help build a fantastic outdoor school playground for every age and ability to enjoy for years to come.

What Is A Trim Trail?

A trim trail is comprised of a series of apparatus used in conjunction to create a dynamic challenge for all ages. Normally made with wood and timber, trim trails are an excellent source of fun for everyone, especially as there are many different trim trail products to choose from. Depending on your budget and the type of trim trail sequence you require, there are products to suit all school playgrounds.

Why Use Trim Trails In A Playground Environment?

Trim trails not only offer a source of fun for children, but also an environment where they can test their mental and physical strength. Why not consider trim trails as part of your P.E lessons or as part of a themed playground space to intrigue the minds of younger children? Trim trails offer a fantastic combination of fitness and fun throughout the year, you’ll find it hard to attract the children away from them!

Rhino Play specialise in designing, manufacturing and installing unique trim trails for schools in any sized outdoor space, across different landscapes. Our expert team is experienced in all trim trail designs and will be able to provide you with a range of recommendations for your new school trim trail installation.

Trim Trails For Schools & Education

Last year we covered the topic of playground equipment to aid upper body strength, but when we think about the benefits of trim trails (both physically and mentally) for students, what can you expect when investing money into a suitable trim trail design for your playground? It’s got to be said that children love to be challenged physically, whether that’s coming first in their sports day egg and spoon race or winning the 5-a-side competition with the other pupils in their school house, so when thinking about the challenges that they would need to overcome when faced with an extensive trim trail, they are sure to love it!

Trim Trails For Mental & Physical Health

Below are just a few of the many benefits that pupils and students can gain as a result of continued use of a trim trail sequence:

    • Improving the confidence of children who may find it hard to interact with their peers outside of the classroom
    • Build upon physical attributes such as: lower body, core and upper strength, as well as coordination and balance.
    • Sustaining mental well-being by enjoying the range of activities that each piece of equipment provides in the outdoors and fresh air.
    • Team building opportunities which can also improve their communication skills (helping each other through guidance and being able to communicate instructions effectively).
    • Sense of achievement! If an individual hasn’t had the confidence or physical ability to complete one or more of the apparatus and finally achieves their goal, this can lead to a great sense of achievement and boost their motivation to keep trying in other aspects of their learning (both in and out of the classroom).

Trim Trail Equipment

We’ve picked some of the most popular outdoor trim trails for schools which you can find inspiration from and are more than welcome to add them to your quote when you browse through our website later on. Don’t forget, all of our trim trail products can be installed as a sequence or standalone product depending on your requirements and we can supply you with a 3D representation of the new play area after our site visit and before we get started on the manufacturing process.

Clatter Bridge

A Clatter Bridge is an integral part of any trim trail and can be added as the middle section of the overall sequence, or for a standalone product that could be added as an entrance to a relaxing school garden space, to make it feel like pupils are escaping to a different world. Despite its name, the Clatter Bridge doesn’t make too much sound at all and is securely fastened to the beams at the top of the product to ensure optimum safety when in use.

Ramp & Net Climber

Who doesn’t love a challenge when it comes to climbing a rope or climbing wall? Well, the Ramp & Net Climber combines the two! This product is excellent when wanting to encourage group and individual play, as well as confidence to climb and to get back down safely. We do encourage those who purchase trim trail equipment that requires the child to climb at height, to consider playground safety surfacing which will protect their fall if it ever occurs.

Vine Walk

The Vine Walk isn’t for the faint hearted and can provide an all-round strength workout for children at KS2 or above. It will also challenge their core strength and balance as they will need to make their way across the bottom rope, as well as using the vine ropes above to guide them! We recommend this as part of a sequence of trim trails and adding different products that challenge the child, mentally and physically, on either side of the Vine Walk – this way they will experience a range of challenges that will make for a fantastic trim trail experience.
