It’s important to us that not only do students and children enjoy the exploration factor of our various playground equipment ranges, such as our adventure climbers and trim trails, but also they improve and develop their physical abilities overtime.
That’s why we have created playground equipment to aid physical development in children and in this article we focus on the products that help to improve upper body strength in young children.
Strength as a whole is an important aspect of every child’s development, but in particular is upper body strength. When completing exercise to help develop the muscular-skeletal muscles in the upper section of the body, it will also be contributing to important factors such as posture, core strength and, with any type of exercise, mental stimulation and development, that we all rely on day-to-day. Of course, there are many more reasons why improving upper body strength in children is important, so let’s take a look at just some of the products we have to offer that can help just that!
We have an impressive range of Traverse and Climbing Walls to choose from when creating your dream playground equipment area. Traverse walls offer a mental and physical challenge that will want your students coming back for me – especially if they aren’t able to complete it the first time! From single panel climbing walls (which you can combine multiple to make a trail) or a long panel traverse wall, which you can develop into a longer trail, there is something for every age and ability.
Not only will this help to improve upper body strength, but also core strength and leg strength, as the need to keep your body close to the wall and navigate the foot and hand holes to get the next part of the wall is crucial. For older children who are up for a challenge, why not try our Net Walls and Rockface Walls? These provide a tremendous amount of concentration and strength and are great for P.E Lessons and extra curricular activities.
Part of our Trim Trail range, the Trapeze Swing is like a monkey bar, but even more difficult to complete! With the swing rope handles that are relatively small in size, you will need all the upper body strength possible to get to the end! As the product description says, the Trapeze Swing will ‘test the arms, grip and core strength to the max’. Our Traversing Trees are a unique product that we introduced to our Trim Trail range to offer a bit of diversity when adding to your playground equipment collection. The stand alone posts, made up of around six in total, is an advancement on the traversing wall as you have to navigate in different directions to get to the end, not just in one line. The fact that the Trees have smaller hand and feet handles will require super upper body strength and hand eye coordination – are you up for the challenge?!
Just like its name suggests, the Vine Walk is something you would associate with Tarzan swinging from tree to tree and vine to vine! Although there is a rope underfoot to stabilise you, don’t be fooled as the Vine Walk will test your core, arm and upper body strength as soon as you step onto it! This is a low level design, so is good for KS2 children and above.
