It has officially been ten years since Rhino Play first started designing and installing bespoke playground equipment for customers from a variety of sectors, and we can’t quite believe how much we have achieved. To celebrate this fantastic milestone, we wanted to look back on some of our favourite projects and partnerships, as well as some other notable accomplishments.

Before our establishment, we were constantly seeing the same, uninspiring playgrounds across schools and nurseries businesses and local communities, often made with poor quality materials and lacking imagination. As a result, our young team decided there was a strong need for unique and stimulating commercial playground equipment that could provide better benefits to children of all ages and abilities, marking the beginning of Rhino Play.

For ten years, Rhino Play has been delivering specialist outdoor spaces to a variety of commercial customers, and have since built up a fantastic reputation and an impressive portfolio of case studies.
To give you a better idea of what the team at Rhino Play have done over the last ten years, we have put together a list of some of our favourite accomplishments.
Having a fun and safe space for children to play, cooperate and socialise with each other during breaktime, or even as part of their teaching, will largely benefit a child’s growth and development. However, in the current economic climate, we understand that for a lot of schools, finding the budget to install all-new, more innovative playground equipment may be a challenge.
For this reason, we have partnered with FundEd, an organisation that specialises in helping schools across the country find and apply for grants or fundraising opportunities that will contribute to the cost of a new playground. This has been a notable achievement for us, because the partnership means we can design, manufacture and install exciting new playgrounds for schools that otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford it.
A significant part of our ethos is to design playgrounds that provide all children with the opportunity to play creatively and safely with their friends, regardless of their abilities. This is why we have focused on providing playground equipment for special educational needs schools over recent years, and are constantly coming up with ways to expand our SEN playground equipment range.
Perhaps the most popular piece of equipment in our SEN range is the wheelchair swing, which allows any child or adult to enjoy the adrenaline caused by swinging from the comfort of their wheelchair. The swing is easily accessible via the ramp and its momentum can be controlled by the attached swing. In 2022, we proudly introduced Rhino Play’s brand new recycled plastic playground equipment, made in the UK from plastic diverted from landfill. We were looking for a more sustainable and longer-lasting material to work with that will remain intact no matter the conditions, can be reused in the future and also gives the same striking appearance as our timber products.
All of our recycled plastic playground equipment is manufactured to play industry standards, is very low-maintenance and comes with a 25-year guarantee.

More recently, Rhino Play also had the opportunity to work closely with the Military of Defence at the Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, Devon. Our team enjoyed this project in particular because we could incorporate the maritime values of the Royal Navy into our work, whilst also providing a unique and more intriguing area for the children who visit to enjoy. Of course, we also regularly celebrate how far Rhino Play has come in terms of our reach. When we first started, we mainly worked with schools, pubs, holiday parks and local authorities in Newton Abbot and Exeter, close to where we are based. As we have grown, our reach has extended to new locations much further afield, such as:
