Par Beach Play Area Case Study

“The first time I have ever known a company ask if they could begin work sooner than planned!”

Brief:

Rhino Play were asked to transform an empty old play area (all the old equipment had been long removed, leaving old safety surfacing pads) into a useable, fun space for children from 2-12 years. There were a few pre-requisites for the design of the new play area: it must have swings, climbing, role play and all weather surfacing.

Budget: £30,000

Our proposal included the following equipment:

small slide and play frame

Solution:

We designed a play area that gave all users the chance to engage in adventurous, fun and challenging play. For the younger children the H.M.S. Dartmouth provided sea themed climbing and role play whilst adding charm and whimsy. The Cradle swings and roundabout offer traditional but dynamic play and the bonded rubber mulch gave the playground a safe and all weather surfacing, tidying up the tired old play space.

For the older user, the basket swing and flat seat swings give the playground the dynamic element whilst the impressive and imposing Hay Tor pole climber provides height, challenge and non-descript play opportunities. The bonded rubber mulch again gives a safe and all weather play surface.

All together this project totally fulfils the brief and already the playground has new life and makes great use of a once empty play area, a subtle nod towards the sea location it will provide many years of fun for locals and holiday makers alike.

A personal comment from Doug Scrafton, a member of Tywardreath and Par Parish Council who oversaw the recent installation of a play area at Par beach:

“The original play equipment had been removed some years ago because of concerns over safety, but it was sorely missed by our community. After careful consultation within the community, and having secured a number of quotes, we opted for Rhino Play. They were most professional and worked with us for a very long time as we finalised our specific requirements.

The installation went smoothly – this is the first time I have ever known a company ask if they could begin work sooner than planned! One or two minor glitches were deal with very quickly and efficiently. And we are left with a range of play equipment that the youngest in our community already love.”
