Rhino Play was invited to install bespoke playground equipment for Salisbury Road Primary School in Plymouth, a coeducational junior school in Devon. As the school is situated near the coast, any equipment we installed, we wanted to ensure would stand the test of time. We offered the school our gym equipment which has self-lubricated and waxed parts, helping to keep the equipment in good working order, all year round.
The school wanted to install the new gym equipment on pre-existing tarmac. However, beneath this old school, lies an unique, historic addition: a WW2 air raid shelter, which meant the team had to have increased care when installing the new equipment. The team turned an empty, sparse space into a fun-filled, fitness-focused playground that allowed young children to celebrate exercise within a safe and secure environment.
Our Rhino Play playground design and planning team have been supplying schools with a range of diverse, challenging and fun playground equipment for over ten years. The wide range of equipment encourages children to exercise regularly within their school playgrounds when they are on their lunch break. Salisbury Road Primary School, wanted to bring this ethos into their school and worked closely with Rhino Play to transform their existing outdoor space.
Originally a blank square, Rhino Play transformed the empty space into a fitness area and worked closely with Salisbury Road Primary School to install fitness-focused playground equipment. This comprised of the following gym sets:
Every piece of the outdoor gym equipment is child-sized and child-friendly, making it ideal for primary school settings.
Not only did the students (and teachers) of Salisbury Road Primary School benefit from brand-new state-of-the-art equipment in their playground, but they also can enjoy the following:
Installing gym equipment within your school improves the overall health of every student, whilst also providing them with a safe and accessible place to enjoy their playtime.
We really enjoyed installing this equipment, as it was right before Christmas when we returned to hang the swing seats on a magical morning. The parish even wrapped a Christmas ribbon around the swings for the opening too!
