In the summer holiday of 2025 our Rhino Play team were busy transforming the grounds of Magdalen Court School in central Exeter. Magdalen Court School is a Special School that caters for 150 students aged 5-18. They provide education and care for pupils with SEMH needs presenting as high-level anxiety school refusal. Many of the learners are autistic and/ or ADHD.
We provided some much needed linked trim trail equipment for the development of balance, co-ordination, traversing, core & upper body strength.
We also installed our Birds Nest Swing to encourage single or social play which can also be used as a ‘go to’ for some pupils who need a chance to chill out.
In the sports court area we divided it up using galvanised & green powder coated rebound sports fencing. this gave the pupils a chance to use the sports area in 2 different segments, thus eliminating arguments over use & reducing accidents.
To make use of an otherwise unused area we installed some 0utdoor gym equipment & a ball chute, this gave a separate small area where either individuals or several pupils can go to let off steam or interact together.
The school were delighted with the results & when we returned in the autumn term to take photos & check over we found it being very well used & appreciated.
