Diptford Parish’s exciting new play area – Diptford, Devon – July 2026

Diptford Parish’s exciting new play area;

Last summer of 2025, Rhino Play were invited to design & quote for a new set of swings along with some trim trail to act as the first redevelopment phase of the public play area in the lovely South Devon village of Diptford.

Previously & many years ago, Rhino Play supplied some timber climbing walls with a linking net, which proved successful. Looking ahead to the next projects, the council were very keen to use Rhino Play’s non rotting, non splintering & sustainable recycled plastic range of equipment.

We were grateful to be chosen for the 1st phase which happened in February 2026. This was made possible by all of the very hard work undertaken by members of the village along with the council. This 1st phase consisted of 3 pieces of Trim Trail items in recycled plastic, along with a new all steel Birds Nest swing with Rubber Grass Mats safety surfacing. This phase was a great addition to the play area & very welcomed by all local people.

The suddenly a few months later & out of the blue, the playing field committee members were very kindly offered a very generous donation to replace the very old timber climber that had seen better days with a brand new non rotting, non splintering & sustainable recycled plastic climbing frame. This was always on the committees wish list but it was thought that due to the cost it would take a lot longer to raise the money for, as the very generous offering was not previously on the radar.

So then in April 2026 we were given the order to replace the old timber play unit with our Ramsbury Towers in recycled plastic, set on Rubber Grass Mats safety surfacing. We raised the standard floor height from 900mm to 1200mm to accommodate a greater age range. Our recycled plastic material not only will last so much longer than any timber, but fits in beautifully into this rural surrounding, giving years of play for generations to come.

When Stuart visited in July 2026 on a sunny day to inspect & photograph, the results as you can see were truly impressive.

Thanks to all in Diptford for working with us to develop your lovely play area & for making it all happen this year too!
