Sustainable in South Tawton – South Tawton, Devon – October 2025
Back in the summer holidays of 2024, we replaced an old rotten timber trail in the playground of South Tawton Primary, a Dartmoor MAT school situated on the edge of stunning Dartmoor National Park, in Devon.
Dartmoor MAT wanted to use our recycled plastic equipment as they understood that this was the way forward with having equipment that never rots, splinters, or needs replacement parts within a few years. With schools situated in & around Dartmoor, the requirements for materials that withstand the elements is crucial & for this reason & the experience of working with us previously, Dartmoor MAT gave Rhino play the order to carry this out last summer.
Revitalising South Tawton Primary With Recycled Plastic Play Design
We had to remove the old timber equipment that was set in a strip of wet pour rubber & re-use this strip & exact area. We also re-surfaced the strip with new green wet pour rubber after the equipment was installed. We edged this with our rubber edging strip to provide a smooth trip free threshold.
The new layout provides a continuous trim trail cluster course whereby users can access each piece from the previous, making it ideal for general play as well as team games & PE lessons.
