Kenn Primary, which is part of the Ivy Education Trust, sits just south of Exeter. The school contacted Rhino Play to discuss using our range of recycled plastic equipment. This was in the main due the longevity of the materials as well as the environmental considerations & ongoing maintenance cost reduction when compared to timber products.
We designed the majority of the course using our recycled plastic materials & one part in our Scandinavian laminated pressure treated timbers. We used a mix of our bound Rubber Mulch as well Grass Mats, which was due to the overall budget.
We removed all of the old rotten timber equipment out of the ground as part of this and the school recycled this in their forest school for seating, building & firewood.
The play trail consists of items for all primary ages and abilities, with the mound tunnel being loved by the EYFS & KS1 & the more challenging climber & Overhead ladder being used by the KS2 in the main.
The trail sits well within the rural setting & is a testament legacy to those who fundraised & provided for this.
Thank you to Ivy Education Trust for working with us on this & proving that environmental considerations can be equally applied to playground installations as well as other aspects of the school fabric.
