Magical changes at St Minver, Rock, Cornwall – August 2022

St Minver Parish Council wanted to transform their existing community playground area into a fun, exciting and challenging space where children of all ages and abilities could come and stretch their imaginations. The existing playground equipment required maintenance and improvement.

The St Minver Parish Council wanted to add additional slides and make a new main feature at one end of the park, while also replacing rotten ramps, panels and other features which were dotted around the park.

How Did Rhino Play Help St Minver Parish Council

With hundreds of playground installations behind us, our playground design and planning team came up with a unique and fun playground design, which the council loved, which included slides, climbing areas and unique spaces where children can learn through play.

The team at Rhino Play removed the parks existing play tower and replaced it with a bespoke designed climbing frame, climbing tower and slide which included various additional components, including:

  • Two twisty slides, one covered and one opened – these two slides can provide children with hours of entertainment and the covered slide can also be used on wetter days.
  • Clatter bridge – allowing children to ignore their imaginations and their agility skills as they work to balance on the clatter bridge as they run to and from the different sections of the play unit.
  • Traverse & climbing wall – having access ramps using climbing wall hand and feet grips is a great way to get children with their problem-solving skills as well as help them target different muscles.
  • Vertical net climber & Net Tunnel – climbing, through, up and across nets help children practise their cognitive skills as well as their hand-eye coordination.
  • And lots of spaces for children to climb and crawl through

As well as designing the large play unit for the children, Rhino Play also installed additional play panels and other additional elements to the park, designed to give children a wide range of activities and equipment to choose from when visiting. We also added our rubber mulch playground safety surfacing around the base of the larger playground equipment, providing a buoyant and soft surface for children to run and jump on.
