It depends on the fall height of each unit. Many lower-level trim trail pieces, such as balance beams and stepping stilts, have a fall height below the threshold that requires impact-absorbing surfacing, meaning they can be installed directly onto grass. Higher units like overhead ladders and rope bridges will need appropriate safety surfacing underneath. We’ll advise on the exact requirements for every item in your trail.
Trim trail equipment sits close to the ground, which means it takes the brunt of strimmers, mowers, wet grass and constant footfall. Recycled plastic handles all of this far better than timber. It won’t rot where it meets the ground, won’t splinter under heavy use, and is largely unaffected by strimmer knocks. For coastal locations, wet climates and busy school playgrounds in particular, it’s a far more durable and lower-maintenance choice.
Most trim trails are installed within one to two weeks, depending on the size of the trail, the groundwork required and whether safety surfacing is being laid. We’ll give you a clear timescale as part of your quote and keep disruption to your site to a minimum throughout the installation.
